What We Believe

New City's Guiding Theology

  1. Scripture Alone/Sola Scriptura

    We believe that theology must be Scripturally grounded (2Tim 3:15-17)

  2. Christ Alone/Solus Christus

    We believe that theology must be Christ focused (John 5:39; Luke 24:27; 1 Peter
    1:10-12)

  3. Faith Alone/Sola Fide

    We believe that theology must be faith driven. Without faith, it is impossible to
    please God (Heb. 11:6)

  4. Grace Alone/Sola Gratia

    We believe that theology must be grace-saturated (Romans 11:6)

  5. Glory to God Alone/Soli Deo Gloria

    We believe that theology must be God-dominated. Each of the three persons (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) of the Trinity saves us in harmonious unity in a way that leads to the worship of the Triune God (2Cor. 13:14; Acts 9:31)


    We believe in the 66 books of the Bible as the canon of scripture, The working of the Holy Spirit in illuminating the believer’s heart; and upholds to the WCF
    and Catechisms as the faithful subordinate teachings and the summary of the
    Bible.

Presuppositions

  • God is at work in all things.
  • Theology Proper is necessary if we are to properly apply God’s word to all life
  • The Church is the chief apologetic through its faithful proclamation of the Gospel in word and deed
  • The Church must understand her demographics
  • The Church must be intentional in choosing leaders that will reproduce the DNA of the Church
  • The individual matters! There is no “one size fits all” Ministry (Diagnostics)
  • No one come to the knowledge of Christ in the same way. (Learning Process-TDOEE)
